Delhi Govt has come up with Doorstep Delivery Scheme in the nation’s capital from Monday. Kejriwal’s officials have claimed that such kind of thing has been happening for the first time anywhere in the world. Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has tagged this scheme has a ‘a big blow to the corruption‘. Not sure of this, but yes, OPOV can surely say that this will bring so much comfort for the Delhites. Kejriwal’s Doorstep Delivery Scheme promised to provide 40 public services.

Here are some quick and crisp points for you to make you aware about this scheme:

1) What is it?

Sarkar Aapke Dwar” is the tagline of this scheme. It will make you avail the facility of doorstep delivery of 40 government services. This will save your time and effort to stand in long queues of Govt offices. Capital’s ruling party AAP had proposed this scheme earlier this year. This scheme, then, invited one controversy as well (of course, because it’s Politics!). AAP alleged that Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal was obstructing this service. AAP Govt have claimed to spend around 12 Crore rupees on this scheme.
The citizens of Delhi can place a request for doorstep delivery of services (any of the 40 services that comes under this Scheme). The application’s status can be tracked online through the unique IDs. The delivery will be made within from 8 am to 10 pm. But the request can be made anytime a day. Even on Sundays! Now, that’s the real good!

2) 40 services under Delhi Doorstep Delivery Scheme:

  • OBC/SC/ST Category certificates, Income certificate, Domicile / Residence certificate, Marriage registration Certificate, Permanent Identity Card for disabled people – are among 13 Government Services.
  • Duplicate RC, Change of address in RC, Learner license, Permanent driving license (DL), Renewal of driving license – are among 11 Transport Department Services
  • 4 Social Welfare Department Services are Delhi family welfare, Old age pension scheme, Handicapped pension scheme and Delhi family benefit scheme.
  • Issuance of priority household cards and Updation of member details in different cards are 2 Ration department services that CM’s Doorstep Delivery Scheme offers.
  • 5 Delhi Jal Board Services are also covered under this tree – New water connection, New sewer connection, Disconnection of water supply, Mutation and Reopening.
  • CM Kejriwal made sure to add 2 services related to Women and child department – Widow pension scheme, Financial assistance to poor widow for daughter’s marriage.
  • Registration of construction workers and Renewal of registration are 2 of the Services in labour department.
  • And lastly 1 service for Law and Justice department is also there – Marriage license for marriages of Indian Christians.

3) How does this work?

You are just one call away to avail the benefit of this scheme! Helpline number is 1076. As the Govt is taking the pain to free you from the pain of spending time in queues, it will charge you an extra fee of Rs 50. Not a bad deal at all! What say?
One of the biggest visa and passport service providers in the world, VFS Global has got the contract to run this project for next three years. As per the plan, Mobile Sahayaks (facilitators) are hired to set up call centers. If the service calls for bio-metric ID verification, the service provider will come to the applicant’s place with all the necessary equipment(s). And after a certain amount of time, the applicant will receive the approved ID/certificate/license via post. But in case of applying for Driving License, a Mobile Sahayak will visit the applicant’s residence to collect the required details. But the applicant needs to step out of his home to visit the Motor Licensing Office (MLO) one time for clearing the driving test. Justifiable!

4) Progress so far and Further plans…

  • 21,000 calls made on Day 1, and out of this count only 369 appointments could be fixed due to heavy traffic!
  • 11,000 calls connected on Day 2 and 4,758 were answered out of all. Though the result seems a bit disappointing, but it is still progressing with the passing day. So, we definitely need to give a fair amount of time to Kejriwal’s Govt to prove their efforts.
  • Also, Govt has stated that the unanswered calls are being called back. SMSs are being sent to such callers.
  • Count of call operators was 40 on day one which has now increased to 80, and the Govt is planning to further take this to 150 to provide more convenience.
  • Number of lines have also been increased from 50 to 120, and making it 200 is in the next plan!
Also, Kejriwal mentioned that 30 more services will be included in this project within the next one month and the count will rise to 100 in two-three months.

So, all and all, the progress graph seems to be going effectively higher. Surely a congratulatory news of Delhi people! Hoping to see some more progress and we wish AAP party all the good luck to cross the hindrances and make a convenient environment for the city people!
